A family company in Montclair
Dean + Oak is run by Jashiro Dean and his family. We make RESTORE skincare, candles and incense in Montclair, New Jersey, and we restore houses in New Jersey and New York.
It started with a house. In 2020 we bought the Bellevue Manor, a 1932 side-hall colonial in Upper Montclair, beside a park the Lenape once used for planting and gathering. Restoring it is what made us designers.
Smudging was a tradition in our family. Before anyone lives in a room, it gets cleared with smoke, and we still do that in every house we work on. The shop grew out of the same habit: the incense and wands we use for the clearing, the candles we light afterward, and RESTORE, the skincare Jashiro makes, which began as Temple Zen.
We make RESTORE, the candles and the incense ourselves in Montclair. The clothes and leather bags are made to order for us, and the art on the site is Jashiro's own photography.

01Where are you based?+
Montclair, New Jersey. The skincare, candles and incense are made there.
02How much is shipping?+
Shipping is free on every order in the US. We pack the skincare, candles and incense ourselves in our own boxes. Orders to Canada and other countries pay shipping at checkout.
03How long will my order take?+
Some things are made in small runs or only once you order, so they take a little longer. Clothes ship in about 1 to 2 weeks. Leather bags and most of RESTORE take 4 to 6 weeks, and the Ritual Kit takes 8 to 10. Each product page says how long its item takes.
04Can I return something?+
Because so much of what we sell is made for you, we can't take returns. If something arrives damaged, email us within 7 days of delivery with a photo of the damage, and we'll send you a replacement, or a full refund if you'd rather.
05What is RESTORE?+
Jashiro's skincare and body care. There are nine formulas, six for the face and three for the body. The face ritual is four steps: the soap, the scrub every third day, the mist or toner, then a serum, Hydrating in the morning and Purifying at night. See the ritual.
06What's in it?+
Lavender, calendula, rose, shea butter, coconut charcoal, hemp seed oil, aloe vera and thirteen essential oils. The full list for every formula is on the ingredients page.
07What colours do the bags come in?+
The same seven as the clothes: White, Sand, Oat Gray, Brown, Charcoal, Navy and Black, all in Nappa leather.
08What sizes are the prints?+
Most of Jashiro's photographs come framed at 12 × 18 or 24 × 36 inches. Omar comes in 24 × 36 only, and Zen is on canvas.
09Do you take on renovation projects?+
Yes, in New Jersey and New York. We do renovation and interiors, a smudging before you move back in, and a scent made for your home. Write to us about your house.
